The City of Hollywood is a coastal community with over 130,000 residents. Located midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport abuts the city. Port Everglades, the second busiest cruise port in the world, is partially within the city's boundary. The public beach stretches for seven miles and is filled with hotel and motel facilities as well at outdoor cafes, restaurants and shops along the oceanfront "broad" walk. Apartment and condominium complexes are prevalent throughout the area, along with single family homes. Incorporated in 1925, the historic downtown arts district along Harrison Street and the Hollywood Art & Culture Center have become centers for cultural arts and entertainment. The Parks and Recreation Deparment offer Free Concerts & Dancing under the stars at the Hollywood Beach Theatre. Along the Intracoastal waterway is John U. Lloyd Beach State Park. Hollywood is also home to the Seminole Indian Reservation.
