The City of Sunrise is located in western Broward County, about 6 miles west of Ft. Lauderdale, and easily accessible via the interstate and the Sawgrass Expressway. Home to 90,000 plus residents, Sunrise is 22 square miles in area, and is adjacent to the Everglades Conservation Area. Previously called Sunrise Golf Village, the community offers a mix of single family homes and condominiums surrounding golf courses. A city of cosmopolitan shopping, dining and recreation destinations, Sunrise is home to the largest mall in the Southeast, Sawgrass Mills, with 350 name brand stores and outlets of discount shopping. Residents and visitors also enjoy the proximity to the world-class facility, Bank Atlantic Center, a multi-purpose venue hosting more than 100 major entertainment events a year. The 20,000+ seat arena is home to the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers.
